PlainLedger

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

In short: PlainLedger does not collect, transmit, store, or have access to any of your financial data. Everything stays on your device.

What data PlainLedger collects

None. PlainLedger has no server, no cloud sync, and no user accounts. There is nothing for us to collect, because your data is never sent to us or to anyone else in the first place.

All information you enter — income, expenses, categories, transactions, goals, debts, net worth, and any imported bank statements — is stored locally on your device only, using standard on-device storage. We have no ability to see, access, or recover this data, under any circumstances, because it never leaves your device.

Bank statement imports

When you import a CSV or PDF bank statement, that file is read and processed entirely on your device. It is never uploaded to us or to any third party. Once imported, the file itself is not retained by the app beyond what's needed to extract the transaction data you see in the app.

In-App Purchases

PlainLedger offers an optional one-time purchase to unlock Pro features. This purchase is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat, a third-party purchase-management service, to verify your purchase and unlock Pro features. RevenueCat receives only the minimum information necessary to validate a purchase — it does not receive any of your financial data, and has no access to anything you've entered in the app.

Notifications

If you choose to enable notifications (entirely optional, and off by default), PlainLedger may send you local, on-device alerts — such as a weekly summary or an Insight about your spending. These notifications are generated and scheduled entirely on your device and are never sent through any external server.

Analytics and advertising

PlainLedger contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, and no tracking of any kind. We do not know how you use the app, how often you open it, or anything else about your usage, because nothing is measured or transmitted.

Face ID / biometric authentication

PlainLedger can use Face ID or Touch ID to protect access to exporting your data. This authentication is handled entirely by Apple's own operating system. We never receive, see, or store any biometric information — it never leaves your device's Secure Enclave.

Children's privacy

PlainLedger is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, of any age, since it does not collect information at all.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds a feature that involves data leaving your device — this page will be updated, and the "Last updated" date above will reflect that change.
